Edwardian Kitchen
COOKING ON THE FARM
The Victorian Farmhouse Kitchen is one of the most popular attractions at the Museum.
WHAT'S ON DISPLAY?
The centre piece of the display is the large cooking range that is powered by wood and coal. The range includes an open fire, small cast iron and large brick lined oven typical of those found on many farms over a century ago.
Elsewhere in the kitchen there are dozens of tools, gadgets and accessories used to prepare and store food in the days before ready meals, frozen food and microwaves.
Diane, the Museum's cook, uses the range on a number of occasions throughout the year to cook biscuits, cakes and other items for our visitors. She often uses produce from the Victorian Kitchen Garden.
HAVE A GO!
When you visit you may be able to make some shortbread or biscuits.
